EMagLive.com has received multiple reports over the last few days from sources who wish to remain anonymous that Microsoft is making a largely successful bid for two of the PlayStation 3’s most anticipated third-party exclusives: Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
The reports of Final Fantasy Versus XIII heading to the 360 have been circulating for nearly the last month after it was revealed that at least parts of the White Engine were being ported to Microsoft’s console. Speaking to EMagLive we were told by a source close to Microsoft that the Redmond company was in productive discussions with the Japanese developer Square Enix to “at least get [Final Fantasy 13] as a timed multiplatform and at most get the game as a simultaneous release”.
We learned that Square Enix was apparently asking for a large monetary compensation for the port, while Microsoft maintained that they did not want to pay for the cost of PlayStation 3 development on the title. Despite the difference of opinion it appears that the two companies are close to reaching an agreement that will bring the blockbuster RPG to the 360.
We contacted Square Enix for comment, but the company maintained that they had no news to announce stating “at this time, there is nothing announced toward a Cross Platform Final Fantasy game, other then Final Fantasy XI and The Last Remnant. This is not to say it will never happen … decisions to develop additional games for the XBox 360 will ultimately be made by Square Enix and Microsoft.”

360 is a good console, but to be honest….I’d rather have Versus as a sp3 exclusive
That’s my views anyway

It is a PS3 Exclusive. The trailer at TGS for both Final Fantasy XIII and Versus XIII ended with “For PlayStation 3 Only” which was designed to supposedly squash all these rumours.
Guess it never worked then, better luck next time Square Enix.

@Tony.
DMC4 had a ”PS3 Only title as well” at the end of its trailer and did few other games. Look how that turned out,

Capcom port allot more titles than Square Enix, so the chances of a FF 13 based port is slim, the only real backup to this, is that the White Engine is an open Platform based engine….not very good news. However, this doesn’t indicate that a port is prominent

@SuperEclipse
Not that I want to be nitpicky, but I feel your answer needs me to be. I can’t say specifically for all DMC4 trailers (not having religiously followed it), but, like the first Fabula Nova Crystallis trailers, the “PlayStation 3″ bit was done with just the logo, or in the case of the FNC games “For PlayStation 3″, which leaves it ambiguously open to interpretation.
Capcom then chose to move to Xbox 360 as well, whereas Square Enix have now decided to ammend their trailers to say “For PlayStation 3 Only”, which is a lot less ambiguous. As far as I’m aware, Square Enix is the first company that has specifically stated “Only” in their trailers, so to go back on that in the future would be nothing short of outrageous.

I agree, the probability for MGS4 to hit the shelves as a mutli platform title, is far higher than that of any Final Fantasy title right now, which is not being slated as a mutli platform.
