Not good news for American gamers here, old Final Fantasy titles do not work fully on the Playstation 3! Though this may still be the case come March for pal gamers we hope this will be fixed soon…ofcourse if it can be fixed. Games on the Playstation 2 work fine, however some errors occur with Final Fantasy XI due to the non removable disk.

Heres a quick overview on what happens on what game.

Final Fantasy Anthology: If you reach teh first save point on CD 1 (FF5), You see a black screen and the play freezes.

Final Fantasy Chronicles: Here you see some texture errors and flickering on the FF4-CD.

Final Fantasy Origins: The Gameplay in Final Fantasy III, as soon as the random battle encounters and you find yourself in battle, the brightness degree is changed.

Final Fantasy VII: If the fight in the Mako reactor on CD1 begins, a flickering black square over the character appears.

Final Fantasy VIII: If you enter into a fight on the World-map, approx 50% the screen goes black and the remainder just looks damaged.

Final Fantasy IX: Both ingame and the FMV videos, 4 transparent lines over the screen appear, if the player or camera moves.

So not good news for Final Fantasy fans!

wow, that’s pretty bad. if they can’t solve the problems, square enix might make a collection so that all final fantasies will be on the one disc compatible with the ps3.

Maybe yeah, releasing them all on a collective Blu-Ray disk maybe. Also actually, if you think about it, this re-inforces a remake for FF7 yet again!

lol, naw I don’t think they will remake them

It would be a waste they done remade the olds ones for PS. DS and GBA . It would be a waste of money..

lol, now sonyfanboys and girls can’t make fun of xbox backwards compatible. They did for so long and look what happens over 200 and more games can’t be played..XD

its almost a tradition for sony to mess up the launch batch for consoles! PS2 had heaps of probs, mainly the DVD player when it was launched.

I also found that on FF2 on final fantasy origins the game crashes anytime u try to use a life statue in town or a warp point in a dungeon.
