Square Enix have recently announced they plan to create an entirely new MMORPG for the next generation consoles, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 (Likely Pc ports will be available at some stage). One thing to note however, is this has been confirmed as a “Final Fantasy” title, and will not be set in Vana’Diel, but infact a world we have already seen in earlier Final Fantasy titles, this likely means Ivalice, as seen in Final Fantasy XII. But we have no official statement on this to truely state this as of the current date. Stay tuned fo rmore info as we get it in.

Now this is the news I have been waiting for. Only issue is that I may have to cancel my FFXI account if this really is Ivalice. I literally begged for an Ivalice online and I had even said in the past, if there was one online game I’d need, it would be set in Ivalice. If not it could be FFVII or VIII, but yea XII seems likely. Not sure what the system will be like, I mean if they use jobs it could be TOO similar to XI and lose out on originality. Maybe we’d get to be sky pirates ^_^.

Ha, sky pirates would be cool. Ltes not rule out Spira also, but i should imagine it shall be Ivalice though. I just cant wait for a next generation MMO from square enix.

if it was set in VII’s world, i think there’d be a few groans here and there lol.
where it’s set isn’t what i’m worried about. will this game be a lot better than XI?

I really love XI, although Ivalice has a lot more potential. It’s so much vaster, and is a world I would actually want to live in if it really existed. I guess I’d have to stop XI for this new one though. I like the world of XI, it has a lt of history and some funky wildlife, so if the new one had all XI had but better I’d soon migrate ^_^.

Hmm, we’ve known that this was going to be a PS3, and Vista MMO for about a year now and then they added 360 so I doubt we’d be seeing PC ‘ports’.
I want more info on this, and I’ll do anything to get into beta >.

I know, we have that new son our old cutenews system, however that was a rumoured Final Fantasy XI follow up! Very early news, this is stated as PS3 and Xbox 360, no PC has been mentioned for this news statement as of yet, so untill then i wont be linking the two stories together.

Well it’s pretty fresh now, and actually official. We should hopefully be getting more information soon. To be honest Gaia off FFVII could be a likely candidate, considering Ivalice could be rather similar to Vana’diel. I’ve not got FFXII yet though so I’ll have to see (in the UK). Gaia is more futuristic and technologically advanced in terms of electronics, plus it would offer a world full of cities and new jobs. Perhaps it would be set before VII with Shinra. Wutai, Avalanche and the Turks.

No, the new MMO has been official for quite some time it’s just been unnamed. The new MMO was officially slated for PS3, Vista and 360. Rumors started spreading that the new MMO would be a sequel to FFXI and all that SE said is that “it’s not connected to FFXI at all”. This has been in production since 2004/2005, nothing new but we finally know possibly that it SHOULD be in the FF verse which makes me excited * infinity.

BTW, where is any of this NEW info that it will be a FF coming from?
Posted: February 7th, 2007 at 11:55 am
I know the “Next gen mmo” new sis not new, as i said we have the images to show what they have done also which was speculated as ff11-2 back then. I have given a source its gamefront.
And this is what you highlighted as “New” due to the fact we can now say for sure it isnt connected to FF11, as we before had rumours to say it was. It is a Final Fantasy title, which was also rumoured it wasnt, as it was never talked of. So yeah, the MMO from squex is not new, however this article clears things up to the current date for those interested in this title.

By images, i mean the ingame screens released via square enix back in 2004. About 3-4 images i think it is.
Posted: February 7th, 2007 at 12:03 pm
Yes I remember. The video is on youtube under the title “Final Fantasy XIV” if you want to see the video where the screens came from.
Thanks for the info anyway. Now I just can’t wait for them to release info on beta testing XD

Ahh right cool, i have the file on my comp but never even considered it’d be on youtube. No probs, and yeah beta testing will be great. I beta tested for FF11, so will try and do so again for this title. I cant wait actually

Exactly what I meant, it’s good we have a confirmation on it not being related to XI, although to be honest, in my opinion, Vana’diel and Ivalice are twin worlds. I remember that video, I’ll just double check though. It’s gorgeous :D. Those images rocked, and I always wanted to explore that world. Now we know what they’re for ^_^.

As a current citizen of Vana’diel, on the Alexander server… I’m looking forward to the potential this follow up may have to offer.
By limiting it to PS3 and Xbox360(in the beginning, at least), it seems it will make it very difficult, if at all possible, to bot in the game. This is something legitimate gamers have cried out for, since the end-game of FFXI really started to take off. Now if they do something about the RMT(Gilsellers/buyers), THEN they will have made the perfect MMO.
I really hope they do keep a job system similar to FFXI, I really enjoy it. I’m looking forward to new details!

I’m a bit unsure since it kind of renders FFXI useless unless you play both side by side. I hope it’s unique and still gives XI purpose otherwise it’ll mean I’ll have to quit. Never mind, I’m a citizen of San d’Oria and proud. I think I’ll stick to both since both Ivalice and Vana’diel both have their own unique fantasy worls ^_^.

XI shall be updated for a few years yet, however you have to note that online games have a certain ammount of expansions to limit its life period, untill a new “proper” MMO is made again. This will be Square Enix’s true Next generation MMO title, FF11 on the Xbox 360 is not a next gen title its a port. So yeah, FF11 will alway shave active servers, however the new title will be the main focus once released for Square Enix no doubt.
Im sure it will feature everything that is loved from FF11, and also benefit from new console possibilites that was not able to be reached in FF11.
Posted: February 9th, 2007 at 1:54 am
Yea you’re right ^_^. I’m just a bit paranoid since I don’t really want to be paying two sets of online fees, and I’m already happy with XI. If it’s Ivalice though (a world I am a tad bit in love with) I guess I’ll have to convert lol. Besides, I haven’t been on XI properly for months since I’ve been too busy.. In a year I’ve managed to get to level 23. Maybe I can get further if I have it on a console, not the PC, since then I’ll be able to play it upstairs in my room o_o. We’ll just have to wait and see :).

Well, you’d probably have to cancel your ff11 account if you wanted to play this new title, unless you can someway transfer your account over to be active on the new title, istead of ff11. Thats not the character btw, as thats impossible. I guess this is very early days however.

I am excited about a new Final Fantasy MMORPG. And it would be pretty cool to have it set in Ivalice.
The only thing I’m worried about with PS3 and Xbox360, are if there’s any limitations (like how PS2 has limited FFXI a whole lot, especially for PC users).
Posted: February 12th, 2007 at 1:44 am
PS2 and PC’s are a mile apart,PS3 and Xbox 360, alongside PC’s are now very even so i shouldnt imagine any problems like that shall be present.
Posted: February 26th, 2007 at 9:52 pm
Yah im guess the Final Fantasy XIV on Playstation3?i here that il thank you thats my guest
suprisely, we another ff in 15th? on PS3?
Posted: February 28th, 2007 at 11:04 am
i hope its gonna be somewhat fast-paced action, unlike ffxi. and the jobs should be like ffT’s like you have to lvl some job to get a new 1.
