| Final Fantasy XIII Battle System |
Final Fantasy XIII promises to offer an extremely unique approach to what has otherwise been used over and over again, this is ofcourse the battle system!
This new system will allow you to freely battle against numerous enemies at once! And other features such as changing your weapons during battle are a welcome change, ofcourse this was first introduced during Final Fantasy X, this installment has obviously taken it that little bit further... into the next generation!
So, to start explianing these new feature's during combat, your weapon may "for example" be a gunblade however with using the weapon change option you may be able to effortlessly transform/change your weapon to something more appropriate for the battle you are in! Lots of attacking styles will be back in Final Fantasy XIII too, these include the devastating hand to hand style of combat using martial arts, or the lethal attacks of lots of fast paced gun shooting seen in the E3 2006 Trailer!
These are just the basic elements of the battle system, it gets deeper and alot more exciting! You will have full controll over your character, moving in any direction, and even attacking backwards using a speacial type of attack! Something very new to the series, you will be able to attack your enemies who try to ambush you, this will open up alot more fun and more strategic elements of play during battle. For example, you could be attacking your enemies whoa re trying to ambush you from behind, whilst also finding time to flee and finding a safer area to attack from, possibly even jumping and using your agility to dodge attacks, launching arial grenades at opposing groups of long range attackers!
Final Fantasy XIII will use the same free romaing style of play as Final Fantasy XII and XI, enemies will appear on screen like we have seen before, hopefully taken further and again, into the next generation!
Final Fantasy XIII will also have an "Area Of Effect" enabling you to attack multiple enemies at once and creating chain attacks! This in addition will gain you more experience.
Now onto Final Fantasy XIII's extremely sleek looking onscreen battle menu options, I have indicated the known areas via A, B and C. More info as soon as we have it ofcourse!

A. A is the scrolling battle menu, in which you can perform your battle options! This also spans across to the bottom bar which displays your ATB.
B. The top left of your screen indicates a very futuristic style of map, this is actually very usefull as it clearly indicates your surrounding enemies. The glowing green circle is your location, whist the red dots are your enemies!
C. This indicates inflicted damage upon the enemies, all the usual style "Critical, normal hits etc" and is displayed dynamically. If you decide to attack with a magic spell, this will display, so for example you use "Fire" it will display, followed by the attack damage.
So thats a wrap of the battle system found in Final Fantasy XIII, Spiras Destiny will keep this page up to date with all the new news revealed to us over the coming months "Years!". A final word, expect everything in Final Fantasy XIII to be fully rendered in free flowing, mind blowing and extremely good looking real-time Playsation 3 beauty!
