Final Fantasy VIII SD Review
So after reading the summary of Final Fantasy VIII, why not check out our rating of the game! Regarded as one of the greatest RPG titles of all time.
Final Fantasy VIII Graphics
Graphics
From the very first opening FMV sequence, Final Fantasy VIII demonstrates just how far ahead of its time this game really was, with stunning visuals and animation this really pushed the Playstations graphical limits of the day, using motion capturing that was truely mind blowing! To the ingame graphics and beautifull pre rendered backdrops, again Final Fantasy VIII didnt fail to impress. Enemies have unique death animations, characters follow you on the field screen, it all just seemlessly worked wonders. By todays standard Final Fantasy VIII looks as good as it did back in 1999, a true master of games.
Final Fantasy VIII Gameplay
Gameplay
Gameplay in RPG games, had for years been regarded as a slightly boring affair, with tedious random battles and a turn based battle system, you either loved it or hated it! Final Fantasy VIII falls victim to this very style of gameplay, but to a Final Fantasy fan this works perfecty. No RPG game can quite capture the essence of that battle music or the victory pose. Final Fantasy VIII's battle system is unique in the sense you draw magic from enemies, then being able to junction them to your characters to aid your stats! This works great and really allows a great ammount of customization. The games Guardian Force system was truely amazing also, allowing you to teach abilities and assign character abilities they have learned to your characters, it all worked really well. Then the Triple Triad game...simply put was possibly the best card game in the series. The games controls on the DualShock Analog worked perfectly, it had perfect vibration features which timed perfectly with major events, and ofcourse the summons! So again, Final Fantasy VIII is almost perfect on it's gameplay, only let down by the "love or hate" factor of its battle system.
Final Fantasy VIII Soundtrack
Soundtrack
From the very opening movie you are treated to the legendary Liberi Fatali track, with the huge anticipation for Final Fantasy VIII after Final Fantasy VII's success, this opening movie was possibly the greatest part of the game, truely amazing. Each location had a great track, from Balamb Gardens relaxing style, to Eyes On Me by Faye Wong, which was absolutely great, and again regarded as one of the best in the series. Final Fantasy VIII's soundtrack is up there with the best in the series, so again it scores prefectly here.
Final Fantasy VIII Overall Rating
Overall
